Terms of Service

Last updated 8 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Jonathan Awobimpe, trading as Quick Verse (“we”, “us”), for using the Quick Verse website, desktop app and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you use Quick Verse for a church or other organisation, you agree on its behalf and confirm you're allowed to.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information, and forms part of these terms.

1. Your account

  • You must be 18 or over to have an account.
  • Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us straight away at admin@quickverse.co.uk if you think someone else has used it.
  • Give us accurate details and keep your email address up to date: it's how we contact you about your account and these terms.
  • Church teams. Whoever starts a team is its owner and is responsible for who they invite. Members can see each other's email addresses and the sessions run for the church. The owner can remove members and change the invite code. If you leave, the team keeps the sessions run for it.

2. What Quick Verse does, and its limits

Quick Verse listens to a sermon, recognises the Bible verses being read or quoted and helps you put them on screen in your presentation software, livestream or audience display.

Speech recognition and verse detection are automated and will sometimes be wrong. They can mishear words, miss a verse, or suggest the wrong one, especially with background noise, strong accents or paraphrasing. Quick Verse is a tool to help the person operating it, not a replacement for them. Whoever runs it is responsible for checking what goes on screen, particularly with auto-show or read-along switched on.

Live services depend on things outside our control: your internet connection, your computer, microphone, network and presentation software. The cloud service may occasionally be unavailable. We recommend setting up offline mode as a backup.

3. Your content

You (or your church) own what you bring to Quick Verse: the sermon audio, transcripts, session history and sermon notes (“your content”). You give us permission to process your content only as needed to provide the Service to you. We don't claim ownership of it and we don't use it for anything else, including training AI models.

You're responsible for having the right to use Quick Verse with your content. In particular:

  • Let the people whose voices are captured know that the service is being transcribed. A line in the notices, bulletin or on screen (“This service is transcribed live to show scripture on screen”) is good practice.
  • Only use Quick Verse in settings where everyone would expect it, such as services, talks and studies. Never use it to capture private conversations.
  • Make sure you have any licences your church needs to show Bible text, livestream or record services (see section 6).

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harass, defame or harm anyone;
  • try to break, overload, probe or get around the Service's security, sign-in or usage limits;
  • copy, resell or give others access to the Service, except people in your own organisation;
  • extract the Bible text or search engine in bulk, or use them to build a competing service;
  • reverse engineer the Service, except where the law allows it.

5. Plans, payment and cancellation

New churches start with a free trial: a set number of days and hours of cloud listening (shown in the app). Offline mode in the desktop app doesn't count towards it. When the trial ends, cloud listening pauses until you choose a plan; nothing is charged automatically, and a service that has already started is never cut off. There's one free trial per church: a new account that repeats an earlier trial (for example on the same computer, or with a temporary email address) doesn't get another one. Before any charge applies to you we'll tell you the price and what it covers, and you'll only pay if you choose a paid plan. When paid plans are available:

  • Prices are shown before you subscribe, including any VAT that applies.
  • Billing is in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment provider Stripe, and renews automatically until you cancel.
  • Cancel any time in your account settings or by emailing admin@quickverse.co.uk. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
  • Price changes are announced by email at least 30 days ahead and apply from your next renewal. You can cancel before then if you don't want to continue.
  • Failed payments: we'll let you know and try again. If payment still isn't made, paid features may pause until it is.
  • Free trials, if offered, say when they end and what you'll pay after. We remind you before the first charge.

If you're a consumer (subscribing for yourself, not for an organisation) you have 14 days from buying a subscription to cancel it for a full refund. If you ask us to start the paid service straight away, you agree that you lose that right once it has started, as the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 allow, but we'll still refund you if the Service doesn't work as described. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Organisations: fees aren't refundable once a billing period has started, except where we've broken these terms or the law requires a refund.

6. Bible text and third-party software

Bible translations are copyrighted by their publishers, and their notices are listed on our Credits & notices page. Quick Verse shows Bible text to help you present it in worship. You must follow the publisher's terms and show any copyright notice they require when verses are displayed or published.

Quick Verse works alongside FreeShow, ProPresenter, EasyWorship, OBS, vMix and NDI®. Those products belong to their owners, have their own terms, and aren't part of our Service. We aren't affiliated with or endorsed by them, and we can't guarantee they'll keep working with Quick Verse if they change.

7. The desktop app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive licence to install the Quick Verse desktop app on the computers you use for your services. It updates itself automatically to fix problems and add features. Offline mode downloads speech models that are licensed by their creators under the open-source licences listed on the Credits & notices page.

8. Changes and availability

We're always improving Quick Verse, so features may change. If we remove something important from a paid plan, we'll tell you in advance and you can cancel with a refund for the unused time. We aim to keep the Service running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors, and we sometimes need to pause it for maintenance, ideally outside typical service times.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Quick Verse and delete your account at any time in Settings → Account. Deleting your account deletes your session history and account details (see the Privacy Policy).

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or if the law requires it. Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you time to download your data. If we ever stop offering Quick Verse, we'll give at least 60 days' notice and refund any prepaid fees for time after it closes.

10. Our intellectual property

The Quick Verse software, design, name and logo belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you the right to use the Service, not ownership of it. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

11. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

If you're a consumer, we're responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not using reasonable care. We aren't responsible for business losses, because the Service is provided for personal and ministry use.

If you use Quick Verse for an organisation, then, as far as the law allows: we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profit, income, goodwill or data; and our total liability for any claims in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in that period and £100.

Because verse detection is automated (section 2), we aren't responsible for a wrong or missed verse being shown, except where that was caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

12. Data processing terms for churches and organisations

When an organisation uses Quick Verse, it is the controller of its service content and we are its processor, as described in our Privacy Policy. This section is our data processing agreement under Article 28 of the UK GDPR, and it applies automatically.

  • Subject and duration: providing Quick Verse, for as long as the organisation has an account.
  • Nature and purpose: live transcription of services, verse recognition and display, session history, sermon notes and follow-along.
  • Types of data: voice audio and transcripts of services (which may reveal religious beliefs), verses shown, session details, and the account holder's contact details.
  • People concerned: preachers, readers and others heard in the service; the organisation's Quick Verse users.

We will:

  • process the data only on the organisation's documented instructions (these terms and its use of the Service), unless the law requires otherwise, in which case we'll tell it first if allowed;
  • make sure anyone authorised to process the data is bound by confidentiality;
  • keep appropriate technical and organisational security measures, as described in the Privacy Policy;
  • use only the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Policy, under written terms that protect the data in the same way, and give at least 30 days' notice of new ones so the organisation can object (and leave with a refund of unused prepaid fees if it does);
  • help the organisation respond to people exercising their rights, and with its security, breach-notification and impact-assessment duties;
  • tell the organisation without undue delay (and within 48 hours) after becoming aware of a personal data breach affecting its data;
  • delete the organisation's data when it deletes its account, or return it first if asked (the in-app export does this), unless the law requires us to keep it;
  • make available the information needed to show we meet these obligations, and allow reasonable audits on notice;
  • transfer data outside the UK only with the safeguards described in the Privacy Policy.

The organisation confirms that it has a lawful basis for the processing (including an Article 9 condition where religious beliefs may be revealed) and that it gives people the information they need, such as the notice suggested in section 3.

13. Changes to these terms, and the law that applies

We may update these terms. For changes that affect you significantly, we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app. If you don't agree, you can stop using Quick Verse and cancel before they take effect.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts can hear disputes. If you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings there. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we can still do so later. Nobody else has rights under these terms.

Questions or complaints: admin@quickverse.co.uk. We aim to reply within 5 working days and to resolve complaints within 30 days.
